Arrow of Light Rank

Arrow of Light is the rank for scouts who have completed fourth grade or are 10 years old.

Below is an overview of the Arrow of Light adventures. For my specific information, please refer to the scout handbook or scoutbook.com.

Required Adventures

In addition to earning the following required adventures, scouts must be an active member of their den for at least 6 months since completing the fourth grade (or since becoming 10 years old).

Building a Better World

While working on this adventure, the scout will become stronger, participate citizenship in their community, their nation, and the world at large.

Outdoorsman (Camper)

While working on this adventure, the scout will go on campouts where they can gain and develop new outdoor skills.

Duty to God in Action

While working on this adventure, the scout will be faithful in his religious duties and respect the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion.

Scouting Adventure

While working on this adventure, the scout will be introduced to Boy Scouting, Scout skills, and Scout spirit as they attend a troop meeting and accompany a troop on a campout or an outdoor activity.

Elective Adventures

Scouts must earn at least one of the following elective adventures to earn the rank of Arrow of Light.

Adventures in Science

While working on this adventure, the scout will understand and apply the role of fair investigations in science.

Aquanaut

While working on this adventure, the scout will be introduced to key principles of aquatics safety as they develop their swimming and boating skills.

Art Explosion

While working on this adventure, the scout will have the opportunity to find what inspires them by visiting an art museum or exhibit and creating their own pieces from any materials they choose.

Aware and Care

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn firsthand how people live with disabilities that affect their sight, hearing, dexterity, and mobility.

Build it

While working on this adventure, the scout will develop building and motor skills, tool knowledge, and good safety practices as they gain appreciation for several forms of craftsmanship.

Build My Own Hero

While working on this adventure, the scout will discover what being a “hero” means as they meet local heroes and learn about everyday heroism around the world.

Castaway

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn survival skills to prepare them to deal with emergencies in an outdoor environment.

Earth Rocks!

While working on this adventure, the scout will see the relevancy of earth science and how it impacts their daily lives.

Engineer

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn about science and mathematics technologies and be introduced to career options in engineering.

Fix it

While working on this adventure, the scout will gain the confidence needed to react properly and help out if certain home or auto repairs are needed.

Game Design

While working on this adventure, the scout will use technology safely to make fun games fueled by their own ideas.

Into the Wild

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn about our ecosystem and grow in their appreciation of nature.

Into the Woods

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn to identify plants and trees and how they differ in locations around the world.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn how information from our past has helped shape our world today and information from today will help shape our future.

Maestro!

While working on this adventure, the scout will discover ways to make and play music that sounds good to them.

Moviemaking

While working on this adventure, the scout will use old and new media to bring stories to life as movies.

Project Family

While working on this adventure, the scout will discover new ways of taking part in family life and showing their family members that they love and care for them.

Sportsman

While working on this adventure, the scout will learn how sports are all about honesty, fair play, respect, and being physically fit.
